in greek mythology when Heracles was fighting the hydra as one of his labors, Hera sent a giant crab to distract him during the fight. the crab knew he was going to die horribly, but went anyway. while Heracles was fighting the hydra the crab pinced Heracles's toe, in response Heracles simply stepped on the crab, crushing and killing it. The crab did do a piss pore job at distracting him, but because he did his job knowing he was going to die he was made into a constellation! although because it was such a crappy job he was made the dimmest constellation
