Tear/AA is broken as hell on Ziggs/Xerath/Karthus/etc. on Proving Grounds. Combined with a Grail, it's almost literally impossible to OOM, and the increased MP regen and relics on the map mean you can spam more to charge it faster, even.

If anything, Tear's better on PG than it is on SR.

athenes unholy grail is infinitely better than the lame archangels staff.

chalice is cheaper than the tear and gets in gear quicker.

Athenes is still a decent late-game item since it regens the most mana in teamfights where you get assists and whatnot to replenish percentages.


but in PG, just buy tear then buy the chalice, so the chalice compliments the tear.

most of the time people that build tear end up building AA then frozen heart and banshees veil. Frozen heart being probably one of the best non ward item in the game and banshees veil another defensive item.
