Game freezes with sound stutters then can't reconnect (DxDiag included)

My game client has been crashing regularly over the past few days. The screen freezes without any graphical glitches, but the sound starts stuttering like it's playing the last few pieces of noise over and over. It's been happening for about a week. For the first few days when this happened my computer became entirely unresponsive and I couldn't alt-tab out of LoL. After I updated my graphics driver, usually I can alt-tab out of the program, but there was one time when it was fully responsive. Not sure if there is a correlation here, or I just got unlucky before the update.

When I'm able to alt-tab out, I can close the ~300 MB LolClient.exe process but the ~1 GB League of Legends.exe refuses to quit despite my best efforts. It seems like this is preventing me from reconnecting to the game; if I log in immediately afterwards and hit reconnect, the mini splash screen appears, but the larger game connection screen never does, and instead the launcher window turns black. I never have trouble connecting to a game in other circumstances. It also seems like the crash prevents my computer from logging out properly; after showing Logging off... from windows, the entire screen goes black and I can't do anything. If I hard reboot my computer I get to reconnect to the game 10 minutes later, but by then my team is already screwed and I get one step closer to getting banned.

i7-2630QM
6 GB memory
64-bit Windows 7
GT 525M with standard NVIDIA drivers installed with their installer on 8/25/2012, version 8.17.13.142 dated 5/15/2012

I've considered that it could be due to overheating but this has happened several times while my laptop was cool to the touch.

Bump.

I've uploaded the r3d logs associated with my most recent crash. The largest file is the game up until my crash, and I guess the smaller ones are me trying to reconnect?

Honestly, I can live with the crashes. It's the inability to fully kill the League of Legends.exe client with Task Manager that's bugging me because it means I need to hard reboot my computer before I can reconnect, turning a slightly annoying 1 minute DC into a game-changing 10 minute DC.

Posting to say I've been having the exact same problem. The game freezes and the sound stutters forcing me to restart the system (perhaps I should try to update my drivers like you did, though my graphics card is integrated). It has been happening more and more. I fear a temporary ban because of perhaps 8 or 10 disconnect/reconnects over the past few days. I was unable to reconnect to my last game.

This only happens on my laptop, my desktop is without incident. I thought overheating as well but this ONLY happens while playing League, and it doesn't matter if it's been on for hours or for 5 minutes, it always happens.

So hears a bump to say I hope we can get this solved.

have this problem too, just bought a new laptop too but since i don't play any other games i don't know if its the game or my laptop...bump to get this answered

Submitted a support ticket to try to get this sorted out, if that fails I'm going to reinstall windows and hope for the best.
