Riot, some of your servers are pinging me very high, some aren't. I can't play.

- During later hours (e.g. 5PM EST), I pinged 160+ms on SOME of the IPs he gave me.

- As far as he can tell it's not a Riot issue but an ISP issue (some router along the way is bad/damaged). Buttt again, it may still be a Riot issue, not sure..

- His best advice, "I would suggest contacting your ISP about this, You should be able to provide them with the tracerts you gave me and explain the situation. They can probably route your connection through a different path that doesn't cause these issues, or, if they own the lines that are causing problems, could perhaps see if the wires are damaged at all."

I'm on the east coast (Maryland) and have Verizon FiOS. I'm going to sit on it for about a week and see if it resolves itself... If it doesn't, well, I don't really know. I already contacted Verizon about this once and they were very vague/unhelpful about everything.
Pretty sure my ISP is the same about this, although I have Charter and there is no other available service here at a reasonable price. I've had this problem before and it's gone away after 2-3 weeks every few months but ya.. DUNNO, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't 500 MS a lot of the times

ALTER.NET is Verizon's backbone (just type it in browser). So Charter is routing it through one of Verizon's routers. As long as it's taking that route it'll lag it seems.

Although 500ms is odd. You're otherwise at 88ms and it spikes to 500ms for a few seconds?

Na the past few days it would spike to 500 which indicated it was my ISP, pretty sure they fixed that when they came today not sure, or maybe just an extremely bad route but haven't seen it yet. Only 180 MS So far. the spikes happen for most of the game if it does.

Try doing a tracert on these:

66.150.148.49
66.150.148.66
66.150.148.44

See if your ping is high at the destination. It's generally okay if your ping spikes to 170ms along the way but if it goes back down to 80 at a later node that's fine. It's only a problem if it stays at 170ms at the end.

Right now I'm pinging fine for those IPs and I haven't had an issue today so far (even though I've played only like twice). Like I said it might just be a congestion issue on Verizon's part or whatever ISP owns some traffic heavy router along the way. The lag isn't always there.

My ping has also gotten higher... however no offense but if your game is unplayable at 180ms, then something is seriously wrong.

My ping has gone from a NORMAL 215 (aussie) to 245.

Yea same, i've only lagged in one game today out of 6, bout to play NESL so we'll see...

Tracert for 66.150.148.49 good at 17 hops then request timed out assuming thats normal.

Tracert for 66.150.148.66 16th hop 229 ms rest normal (lax010.pnap.net)

Tracert 66.150.148 44 good

alter's were fine though
