this is a little late but, no, the towers will not auto attack anything that is not attacking you, when it comes to neutral monster. I own Syndra and made sure that I tested this idea myself.

Anivia & Nautilus are both champs I have never tried; also looking forward to trying Syndra and throwing red buff etc. around the map :P. I got to try Hec when he was last free but I get a chance to try again.
