watched a ton this summer. Ghost in the shell is number one of course, darker than black is sorta like that, but it feels a litttttle tryhard. elfen lied is great, but my favourite is girls bravo

Cowboy Bebop is, imo, one of the best. Also look into Full Metal Alchemist, Darker than Black, Deathnote. If you're into it, Eureka 7.

Also, I've heard of this great genre called Tentai, try that out.

I would advise you to watch Blood+. Right now my favorite anime.
