Well i think the simple way to differentiate this from draven is to make the champion have something like this...
passive
herpina durp (I can't creative name

) uses her physical and magical might to beat the tiber's stuffing out of people for justice and what-not ... after using a spell her next attack fires magical whatzi-whositz in a cone/cirle/square/geometric shape (we have no square skill shots :| ... except cho spikes) healing and or harming allies enemies respectively
*note small numbers that scale per level ^^here^^ like fiora passive numbers so that you wouldn't have to tweak cds or ability strength/mana cost/cc/scaling/range/etc.
the possibility of having a heal or harm effect on a passive would be *awesome*
QWER
deal magic damage BUT (because herpina durp is a non league of draven member as you would read in her lore if i maded it up) scale with attack damage.
^^this^^ brings her into a whole new undone in lol so far champion you don't build hybrid like kayle, (her stuff scales with ad but its still meh im an angel kinda stuff) akali, or jax or temmo (maybe? but eh)
it would diversify herpina's damage while keeping the idea that she uses her physical might to cast magic and stuff.
note on what pen to build... hybrid pen items? I mean come on a void cleaver would be OP. but really hybrid pen runes satisfy penetration as far as viability of the champ.
and a last word PLEASE feel free to ignore the flavor text I really just like the idea of those kinds of mechanics which quickly put are...
-passive aoe heal/ harm respectivly on ally/enemy after spell cast on aa
-abilities that scale on attack damage but deal magic damage
*i know there would be issue on the how well would this champ scale late game but if all else fails aa.
Those were just some thoughts on the idea of a battle-mage champion (I think the community actually really likes the idea A LOT, but is just very varied on how to go about it)
