i would say ahri > zyra -- if you just want mids

Brand - easily most fun you will have as a mid
Morg - easiest lane ever, soil ground op ult in team fights zhyona's op.
Swain - dominate the game if you get a couple kills, become pro if you learn him well
Cassiopia - if you want to make people cry their brains out XDXDXD
Anivia - if you want a troll egg op passive and passive steady burst dmg
Ori - if you wan utility mage
Grags - if you want to be a large drunk dude
Zyra - if you want to be someone nerfed but still kinda op ranged and a good utility ult
Vlad - if you want a very bruiser-like hero that does well in top lane also

I'd say that Zyra is all around better than Ahri, but Ahri is more fun. If you consider 4800 as "close enough" then get Orianna.

Seen Brand doing lots of damage lately in the mid, but generally see alot of Ahri's in the mid.

There hasnt been a ahri i havent stomped as anivia.

Ahri looks better, zyra is a killing machine. I remember that lolking did a research and they found out that zyra is the most succesfull ap mid right now.
