When playing mid, where are the best spots to ward?

Or is there a nice guide anyone can link me to?

Generally on either side of the river in the bushes, this grants you vision and some warning before hand. Secondary spots include the wraith paths on either side (blue or purple side of the river). This is generally a spot the jungler should be warding, however it will let you know if the enemy is invading or coming around the side to gank you from behind.

You should still look into warding guides.

They will help a lot.

Also in most cases you can place a ward over the wall and into the bush without exposing yourself.

I'll leave you this picture. I hope it gives you a general idea of things. Most high elo players would admit wards are overpowered and would suggest you get them in any role you play, but supports do it the most. They would just say take advantage of how stong wards are while it lasts.

As you get advanced you will want vision of certain areas of the map, to grant free counter ganks, ganks, escape from ganks, sabotages, and more.
