First I would like to present certain topics and then we can discuss.
We all know who the real baron'' escaped'' when the summoner's rift was erected, but the journal of justice:
'' He was such a fearsome and powerful beast That even the armies of Demacia and Noxus steered clear of the river, unwilling to chance an encounter with the Baron.''
This means that they knew of the existence of the Baron, and yet, built the arena in the middle of the Serpentine River that was the home of Baron.
Why?
If the Baron was so strong, why risk it?
If the copy needs 5 champions to be dead, imagine the original.
But I know why they created the summoner's rift, to capture the Baron.
Imagine the scene, an impending war, a monster that destroys armies, and an arena as a front to gather the best champions to end the beast, or rather capture it.
With control of Baron they could win the war and reign over Runeterra.
But Baron was smarter and fled.
But a hole was left, a hole for the real Baron.
This is mere speculation, but who knows ...
