The idea for Free Champion Rotation week is to make the new players try out all the champs. Instead of just handing all the champs out for everyone (which =Huge $$$ loss on Riot), it allows Riot to earn Big $$$$. Because most of the champs people want are 6300 IP and players can only buy runes with IP. Therefore, Riot is ultimately marketing people to buy RP to unlock champions.
Riot is a company, they need all the $ they need.

why cant you have champions that havent been free in the past 2 weeks or such? there are a lot of heros that i want to try like; jayce, karma, alkali, oriana, etc. I dont want to pay for them because im not sure if they're right for me... in conclusion make different champions free.

I'm torn whenever my favorite champions, which is half of this rotation, are free for the week. On one hand, I facepalm when I see others miss out on the basics of those champions. On the other hand, I absolutely love destroying those same people and laugh while they struggle trying to trade with me.
