If you falsely accuse someone of murder, you will be called to provide enough evidence to warrant an investigation. To add to this, no one has ever been convicted of murder based on testimony alone.
Conversely, a man can be convicted of rape based on a woman's word alone. And even if he isn't, he's put through the ringer because of the accusation while the woman's name remains anonymous, even if she is a serial false rape accuser.
A classic example is the Duke Lacross case.

What would you least want to be accused of; thievery, rape or murder?
