In other words do you think everything you have now isn't as a result of your actions or something you deserve but rather fate working in your favor/against your favor?

The future is what will happen. (By definition)
You can't change what will happen. (Otherwise it won't happen, and thus isn't "what will happen")
Therefore you can't change the future.
Therefore the future is inevitable.

Come at me.

I want to say that the future is inevitable, but that takes a lot of the fun out of life. ie, everything is decided for you before you do it.

But..

If you say that you can CHOOSE what future you want, that makes it ok..

/thread?

the future has already happened. your life is like a roll of movie film-its already created but just hasnt been played out.

Relativity implies no such thing.

you're assuming the future is a known and static value. i'd argue that there are countless futures and only one comes to fruition. we can't change what will happen, but we can change which "will happen" happens.

The future is inevitable, but that doesn't mean there's only one possible future. I see your tricky little play on semantics there.

As to the OP, I'm a free will sort of guy. Sure your influence on the world around you might be limited, but not everything is predetermined.

I would love to think as the entire universe as one big chemical reaction, that would prehaps be predictable with enough information.
But there seems to be this factor of randomness.

Where did I assume that?

I'd argue that this amounts to saying that there are many possible futures, but only one actual future, which is consistent with what I'm saying.

But the question of which " 'will happen' happens" is a question of what will happen, and so by your first claim, is unchangeable.

My argument did not imply or assume that there is only one possible future.
