"Salome is afraid of the dark. Everyone else is afraid of Salome."
The shy daughter of a stern king, Salome was frequently pushed aside or forgotten. Content to be left to he own devices, Salome filled her days with reading, taught herself music, and loved to dance. In her lonliness, Salome imagined a loving family with gentle parents who would watch her dance and laugh. She would wander freely through the castle and surrounding woodlands, playing with imaginary siblings. One day she wandered too far, and became lost as night fell. She took refuge in a small cave, which she did not realize was home to a pack of wolves.
Cornered by the wolves and not knowing what else to do, Salome danced. The wolves recognized a graceful spirit in need of their protection, and greeted her with affection. Salome formed a close kinship with the wolves, finding the loving family she had longed for. After a few weeks, her father noticed her absence and sent all of his huntsmen on a search. They found her sleeping with her wolves, and proceeded to slaughter the beasts, in spite of her screams of protest. Back in the castle, Salome became even more withdrawn. She never spoke, became fearful, almost feral, fleeing from all other humans.
Meanwhile, the king was gripped by madness, and quickly began driving the kingdom to ruin. One night, an angry mob marched on the castle, killed the king and anyone else they encountered. Salome was pursued into the woods, where they found her in the abandoned den of her wolf family. Cornered, Salome began to dance. Her attackers looked on, thinking her as mad as her father. As they watched, a monstrous wolf emerged from the cave behind her and set upon her attackers, killing some and putting the rest to flight. Salome embraced the shadow, initially thinking it was one of her own who had survived slaughter. Outside of the forest, rumors spread of the mad princess and her demon wolf. Groups of frightened citizens began hunting for her, looking to rid the forest of their evil presence, but Salome and her wolf put down each challenger. Salome moved with an easy grace in battle, dancing with each opponent, and the wolf was a deadly agent of her will. Eventually, the villagers abandoned the forest as an unholy place, and Salome was content with the peace of exile. But the shadows pushed her to pursue her attackers into a nearby village, to take vengeance for her father and her wolf family. Salome gave in to her desire to avenge her loss with her newfound power, and slaughtered the entire village. Slowly, Salome realized what she had done was murder, not vengeance, and refused to take up arms again. But she discovered the wolf could bend her to its will as much as she could to hers, manipulating her desire for peace, repressed rage, and loneliness.
Uncertain of her ability to control herself, and fearful of the true nature of her shadowy companion, Salome sought help from the League of Legends. Perhaps, if her demon could be realized, she would be free. In the meantime, she speaks in two voices. One says “help me,” the other says “help me kill them all.”
Role: support, melee, bruiser
Passive- Don't Look at Me: enemies chasing or facing Salome's back are slowed, attack speed reduced.
Q: Hide in the Shadows: Salome teleports behind a friendly or enemy target.
W: Afraid of the Dark: an enemy is blinded and feared 2 seconds.
E: Bloody Vengeance: Salome makes a melee attack which deals true damage, scaling with her health. For teammate who is dead, Salome gains 25% attack speed.
R: Dance Macabre: Salome tumbles away from enemies, becoming untargetable for 3 seconds. A shadow wolf is summoned, dealing AOE damage to all enemies and targeting the nearest enemy, or the one with lowest health.
If the wolf is killed before Salome, 15% of her health is returned.
Salome was conceived to be a well-rounded champion for season 3. I saw someone post a comment about how there were no "shy girl" champions, and perhaps introducing the shy girl archetype would be a good way for Riot to vary the female champ pool a little bit. This is the character I made, with that in mind. Please give me feedback and suggestions for her backstory, kit, and the art!
