I was comparing the IE/PD combo compared to BC/MBR combo.. and the latter had much better numbers. So... take some reading classes along with the math classes you obviously need.
In order to your quoting of me:
Yeah, I have no idea what your answer to this was trying to say.
Attack-speed-granting abilities makes attack damage more cost-efficient because you've already got more attack-speed. Imagine, 50 more damage added by an item. Someone who has 100 damage per hit every second or someone who does 50 damage per hit twice a second can get it - both currently have a DPS of 100. The first one will go to 150 DPS, the second however will go up to 200 DPS.
The point is, if you have two items, it is logical to assume your target will also have around the same amount of gold - unless you are very ahead of your opponents, which unfortunately somewhat swings the example toward "DO WHATEVER, YOU CAN'T LOSE, YOU'RE THAT
Yep, you're right on that, I somehow managed to think otherwise.
No, I obtained those numbers by multiplying the attack damage by the critical strike chance and critical damage and then adding it to the attack damage multiplied by the chance it won't critically strike. This is the average damage per hit with regards to critical strike and critical damage. Broken down: (80 X 0.55 X 2.5) + (80 X .45) = 110 + 36 average attack damage per hit.
Yes, I would. 25 armour is minor when you're already made of glass, upgrading you to plastic, and critical strike scales much better with everything else a carry shall get.
That is a highly dubious statement, especially if you are attempting to kite gap-closers in which you will be lucky to get one hit before walking right back on most carries.
The third item is vital because once you get a BT or LW, the IE + PD combo greatly outstrips BC + MBR. When you get both, it's no contest. Since as the bulk of your team's damage is dependent on you, this is pretty important. If you cannot afford more than two items when the enemy team can, you've pretty much lost anyway. That is why MBR + BC is terrible compared to the standardized build.
