When they made the (in my own personal opinion) awful Kat rework, they also changed her lore, which set up so many plotholes from other champions' lore an they still have yet to fix that.
Bring Kat's old lore back before you claim you care about things fitting with her.

they ALWAYS cared about this kind of stuff. they've simply always had a reason/excuse to do things. they quite literally had no excuses in adding a stripper pole to katarina.
