The first recall animation was very controversial. Some thing it was great, some thought it was too "sexy", and Riot says it didn't fit in with the Christmas theme, which I kind of agree with. The only Christmas thing about Katarina's "dance" was that it was on a candy cane...
the second is bland, boring, rushed, badly animated (just look at the top of the cane fall, sorry animator, you usually do great, but this wasn't your best work) and generally uninteresting. I don't see how Riot can say this fits in with their "theme" if the dance doesn't; What does slicing a candy cane have to do with anything? Katarina is a distinguished assassin, I don't think she needs to practice on a candy cane...
Here's my idea: An open present box falls next to Katarina as she starts the recall. Katarina looks both ways and jumps into the box. The lid falls from the sky like the box did and lands on top, covering the box (and our favorite assassin) up. upon being teleported to the spawn pool, Katarina jumps out of the box in surprise (the box disappears as she leaves it). An optional part would to make her look around in confusion, because she was expecting an enemy to open the box so she could have killed them.
This animation mixes the Christmas/Holiday nature of the skin, with Katarinas Stealthy, assassin personality. Her plan is to hide in a present box waiting for an enemy to try to open it for a nice gift. She then deceives them by jumping out and killing them. A plan worthy of a great assassin if I do say so myself. However her plan is foiled when she is teleported back to the spawn pool, where nobody other than her teammates preside.
I really hope we can help Katarina have a really fun holiday skin. I plan on buying it so I expect it to live up to previous skin's precedents. Please show riot what we want community, they will listen to us! (Even if you don't like the idea, it's still better than slicing a candy cane right?)
