I was playing a ranked as alistar and as the game when the game finished it said continue. As I clicked that it said attempting to reconnect so I ended up having to restart my LOL client and then it said I was banned until the 8th of January for leaving games. Is this a bug or what, I am confused.

Suspended is what it sounds like to me since it's not permanent.

And no, this isn't a bug, Stop leaving games and you won't see this message again.
Just be happy you don't get disconnected from your game while it's going on and they are doing bans because then you won't be able to rejoin the game that you were in. Your stats from that game will still be saved however so yeah.
