I've never seen so much hate for a skin without it even being released.

This is in contrast to someone like, say, Leona, who is this gritty, battle-hardened warrior ready to lead the charge into battle. She's a plain ol' badass army chick ready to kick ass.

Imagine you made a Leona skin in a schoolgirl outfit and she's acting like a bubbly tween. I'm pretty sure everyone who's played Leona would consider that a mistake of a skin. You'd be trying to smash Lux's personality on Leona. It doesn't work.

Steel legion (and to a lesser degree, her other military skins) seem to take the Leona theme and try to smash it on to Lux. She's walking around in this massive suit of armor. She looks like a freaking tank. When she fires bolts of light from her staff, she poses like she's holding a minigun.

It just doesn't fit.
But isn't that the point of skins? To give the champion a different feel?

Suprise Party Fiddlessticks definitely DOES NOT fit Fiddle's theme, but it's his most beloved skin.

i happen to love the theme and new skin for lux. lux has a military background, so it's thematic. she currently has 2 magic themed skins and 2 military themed skins and 1 basic skin. and they're ALL bad. She's my favorite champ to play and yet i don't own any skins for her. I'm looking forward to this because it'll be polished and new and an imaginative exploration of other parts of her character. so for those of you making sweeping generalizations about how 'this isn't what us lux fans want', keep it to yourselves and don't buy the skin. spend your time lobbying for a rework of her current model and skins so you can have the great looking witch you're so desperate for

It's an unreleased skin to boot. It's not even fully polished and it already looks 'bland'. The recall animation already has me wanting to get the skin for her alone. It's much better than the bland, watch-her-stand-ther-as-she-teleports-back pose.
I didn't realize new back animations should be for skins only.

No wonder skins are becoming so overpriced.

The problem is that this has been done twice before. It's just more of the same.

I mentioned in a different thread that the reason Gentleman Cho'Gath and Suprise Party Fiddlesticks are such good skins is that they took a monster and turned him into a stereotypical, exaggerated, cognac-sipping gentleman and a birthday clown, respectively. It's different enough to be funny.

However, going from bubbly and cute to gritty and badass doesn't yield the same effect, and only serves to take away what people like about the base character, while adding nothing.

So Bandito and Pirate aren't funny either?

Those are just the two examples I used, there are plenty out there. Sinful Succlence Morgana, Big Bad Warwick, Leprechaun Veigar, Brolaf, and Toy Soldier Gangplank, just to name a few off the top of my head.

But I'm saying. Fiddles has tons of skins (soon to be another arguably) that don't fit his base theme of murder scarecrow. But I'm not saying that's even a bad thing.

But this Lux skin hasn't even been released and it's vamping up to DVD levels.

Here's one of my quotes from another thread.

Lux's past two skins have been military-themed, and suffice to say, I'm tired of seeing variations on the same theme, every time. It also doesn't help that Riot has been awful silent about it. IronStylus said he's get back to us, but it's been a couple of days...

All of Fiddlesticks' skins have been something different. Pirates, cowboys, ghosts, and party clowns. Lux has two magic girl skins and two military skins, soon to be a third. All I really want is some variety.
