I was thinking about supports with Sightstone. Its such a great item. But its obvious limitation is only being able to have 2-3 wards available on the map at one time. When I buy this item I buy wards too as I prefer always having 5 wards at least, every time I shop as a support, but as the game progresses, all the item slots are used, theres no room for more wards, so I thought a good idea would be to add a ward slot onto the Ruby Sightstone, which can take an additional 2 or so more wards for normal 75 gold cost.
Either add a feature which you pay say 200 gold to upgrade to be able to buy more wards for the slot or just make it so that when you buy wards they automatically get stored in the Sightstone, and you can place 4, 5 or 6 wards all over the map without them disappearing on when the limit is reached

The whole idea of the sightstone is that you get it instead of wards because in the long run it is very cost efficient. Now always have 5 sightwards at a time in season 2 meant you were spending 375g every time you went back and this item allows you to pay the one time fee of 700 for the sightstone which gives you 3 everytime you go back. Now lets say that you go back between 8 and 12 times in a game, that would be between 3000-4500g to always carry 5 wards. Now do you see where the math is coming in to play? You can pay a one time fee of 700g and constantly refill your wards for a major discount compared to actually paying for the real wards themselves. Now also yes you want map coverage but it is not solely the supports job to ward. (I main support) It is always good for everyone to have at least one ward at all times on them. Top lane should ward their bush, jungle ward where ever he can, mid ward the sides and bot lane ward dragon, tri-brush, and sometimes areas like blue buff to try and catch the other teams jungler off guard (although it is debatable to say that it should be the junglers job to ward the buffs). So with only 3 lane sources of income and a jungle creep income there is no money for the support except for the passive gold and if you get gp10's such as philo. If you get sighstone it allows you to focus more on getting items with auras that will help your team more so at a faster rate such as an early aegis and chalice to later build into bulwark and mikael's crucible. I hope this has been any bit helpful to you and can explain maybe why sightstone is a much better economic choice for a support player than buying flat wards.

Economically, yes it is better.

Gameplay/team wise. It's useless. Your 3 wards are insignificant. You're better off (since you're SUPPORTING your team) just buying 5 wards each time you go back. If you're buying wards, you're more than likely getting kills or assists because of your amazing map vision/control, so you can afford it.

I used the sightstone when it first came out to test it and find that I no longer buy it, I buy wards instead.

I watch Xpecial from TSM and this was straight out of his logic on his stream no more than 3 days ago. I already knew it but I basically paraphrased him. So if he's doing it on a pro level then it must be worth something.

Plus LadyFiara I'm going to assume that you don't buy wards at all when you play other roles do you? Because when you think that it is only the supports job to ward that is a very bad philosophy because that will keep the support behind on items that could also be helping the team out. It's nothing for someone who is laning or jungling to pick up 1 ward that's 75g out of their immense economy but for a support that ends up being a lot. So yes it is the supports job to have more wards than anyone else but if you leave it to JUST the support player then you are keeping the support player economically behind, they are having to lose more xp by moving all around the map to ward, and the other lanes like top are going to get ganked more often because they are saying that it is the supports job to ward their side. People just have to understand that if you watch professional playing it is not only the supports job to ward it is EVERYONE's job ward some part of their map. The ghost wards may not last as long but that is why you can have the adc ward the tri-brush and you can ward the dragon or vice-versa. It's just a matter of this way the support is more economically stable and can be a bigger participant in the battling process and actually assist in getting kills. Otherwise you are just a walking target with nothing more than wards in your inventory.
