So I'm not quite sure what the problem is and I am not very advanced with computers. I know how to run advanced programs and what not, but when it comes to networks and internet and all that, I might as well never have seen one. With some hardcore gamers on here I'm sure that someone who knows a ton more than me is around.

Anyway, I get random latency issues through the internet. Whether it's in game while playing LoL or sometimes just browsing the internet. Sometimes it lags enough to where it will freeze for a min or two before working again. I am always able to see my mouse moving and the animations happening, but I am frozen. Then it will attempt to reconnect for a sec then frame jump forward 2 or 3 min. The ping in my house is normally in the mid 90s but when I play it goes from anywhere from 90s up to 1500+ just all random. It won't stay of the same latency level for more than a couple seconds usually. My roommate does not have this issue, although he is hard wired in if that makes a difference. I haven't had much of a chance yet to try it on a different network yet, so I am not sure if it is my internet or within my computer.

Can anyone provide me any insight with where I can search for a problem?

Your help is very much appreciated.

you are experiencing packet loss, my advice would be to switch from Comcast to another ISP.

I must admit I had issues as well when I played games using my internet for the first time. It's much more noticeable honestly when you are playing a game vs surfing the web.

Are you playing on a laptop?
- If so are you using the wireless or hardwired in?
Try to get an Ethernet cable and wire it in from your modem/router.

Open command prompt and type in "ping google.com" without the "s and it will send out 4 packets. Should you lose any it is most likely your service provider and you may have to contact your service provider to resolve the issue. I've had At&t for a long time and switched carriers because of **** like that and my connection used to drop A LOT.

I am on a laptop at school. My internet provider in KY in called Insight. I'm not sure what else is around but I will look. I tried the "ping google.com" and all 4 packets came back. I have been playing wirelessly, but this is a new problem. It had been fine from August until just about a week ago which is why it's so confusing. I'll trying playing with an ethernet cable when I get back home tomorrow though.

I really appreciate the help.

It sounds like you're on wifi? um, yeah don't do that for anything but surfing the web.

Most likely that wifi connection has zero priority for maintaining any sort of data stream. Either the first port or all the hardlines on the router have all the priority (which is pretty common as default) or your roommate has it set that way. I have it set that way, giving my wifi no priority to keep my gaming pc's connection uninterrupted.

The other remote possibility may be you're having heat issues and your whole pc is slowing down intermittingly, but you can only really tell via cpu intensive software like games.

This probably isn't a huge factor, but consider Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

Is there a microwave/ phones/ walkie talkies/ etc being used while you browse? It can easily disrupt the connection
