I dunno about the stats but "Black Hole Sun Cape" would be a better name imo!

That was the point. They wanted to shift away from the game being about out lasting your opponent and tanks with high base stats being dominant.

They went overboard imo, as now unless you have a defensive steroid there is no point building defense because your opponent can build damage faster than you can keep up, and you will just end up doing no damage to them so you wont even kill them before they can kill you even with all that nice armor you just bought.

That is patently untrue.

No reason not to release it doing true damage then reduce it in a later patch

Give an example of any duelist that would lose to a tank (except amumu who is broken as **** with those ratios and base damages) or even a tanky derps if the tanky derps built an armor item like sunfire or half of frozen heart / randuins.

Unless the champion has high base stats or a defensive steroid, they won't win because even if they have enough armor to tank the hits, they wont have to damage to kill the other champion in time, not to mention that other champion probably has spellvamp or lifesteal so in the end they will win.

Very few match ups like that are winnable unless of course you counter picked the other person, but that doesn't happen very often in blind pick.

BTW Im talking about right off the bat, not someone that lane swaps 10 mins in. Prospectors blade will do just fine even if the other person has a giants belt and cloth armor.

A. Tanks aren't there to win duels against duelists. You know, role balance and whatnot. Hence the name "duelist."
B. Bruisers still build armor because they don't want to be exploded for free by AD carries before those get a Last Whisper and because they don't want to take true damage from AD casters going the armor pen route. You can easily afford to do that, armor scales far faster for cost than damage/armor pen until Cleaver/Lastwhisper/Brutalizer combo is in play. By which point you should already have HP items if you are serious about surviving against an item build designed to counter armor at cost of building proper damage.
C. Off the bat? Get a Lanter and Ninja Tabi's. Good luck having any AD kill you in a reasonable amount of time if they rush the standard brutalizer build track.
