So I just finished playing for the night, had a really depressing series of matches.

A few games in, I see a Jayce for the first time ever (I'm only lvl 13), and get absolutely destroyed. When I check after the match, he's lvl 29 and has 400+ wins in dominion. Just for reference, I have about 45.

The next 4 games (so 36 players with a couple repeats) I see only one player with more than 10 wins in dominion, and get a Cho'gath on my team who retreated almost every time he saw an enemy, leaving the rest of the team to effectively 4v5. Not that I'm supposed to be really good or anything, but most of the players I saw tonight were just terrible.

On a side note, in the past few days, I have usually gotten matched with better players around my experience/skill level, not sure why tonight was so bad.

Is there any logic whatsoever behind dominion matchmaking that could result in such ridiculous matchups? If so, please enlighten me.

You might have gotten better matches over the weekend because there were more people on. On the other hand, at this time on a Monday night there is not likely to be a full queue. However, you'll keep getting teamed with single- and double-digit beginners until you have grown quite a bit, so get used to it. At its best, the Dominion queue is still on the small side.

Playing late at night is an invitation for matchmaking woes. The fewer people there are in queue, the more the matchmaker has to stretch.

Low player pools make matchmaking a nightmare.

Level 30 700+ dom wins and I get a nid on her third dom match rushing wits end and nashors tooth

There must be even less dominion players now then there were months ago. I'm getting all sorts of players, even some who haven't had a SINGLE DOMINION GAME PLAYED (despite being level 30) along with players who have 1000+ dominion games played who are 1.8k+ elo in the same match. "Chill bro its just dominion nobody cares about this mode"

But yeah, MM works better with large playerpools.

Try playing on Sunday mornings at like 6am. You could play with Sauron and a lvl 8 in the same game.
