Akali's clothes are not decent, but her actual splash art pretty much is; it's from the front, it's not really revealing, and the pose is serious. Sejuani pushes it slightly more, but it doesn't seem that bad either.



My point is that, while there is definitely a lot of sexualization of female characters in League, there are plenty of exceptions. Quite a lot. People do absolutely overplay this "problem". And it really is only a problem according to demographics. As it stands, the majority of people who play League are male, so mostly the game is going to cater to males if it's going to have fanservice.

I wouldn't mind some fanservice for girls at all, since yeah, it would be fair. But as a heterosexual male, I don't really care to see it either. And if the game had no fanservice at all, I'd still be playing it, because I'm not playing the game for fanservice.

Have you ever looked at their waistlines? It's even obvious behind Kayle's armor that she's about to keel over and die from malnutrition. Not to mention Shyvana is wearing boobplate and a scraggy bottom plate. No need to protect vital organs, right?

Vayne and Diana are not as bad, though, I'll give you that.

Slay Belle Katarina was ruined, IMHO, because it was too "sexy" - so I wouldn't expect to see a fanservice skin for girls. They probably will keep their hands off of more of these types of skins now because of party poopers.

Just to add to the female models in this post, I think there needs to be variation in how they look... its like they have 1 model and they put different clothes on it and call it a new champion... most of the faces look exactly the same... its kind of true to with the male models.

Hmm, well correct anatomy can be a very different issue than just one of fanservice. I mean, League is not a game with a realistic artstyle. Plenty of characters deviate pretty harshly from possible anatomy for style reasons. The size of Garen's torso and hands is insane, for example. Shyvana is definitely designed to have an attractive design, but I don't think that makes it fanservice, and I certainly don't look at her splash art and think "mm, sexy". I also look at her a lot like I do Riven: They're not armored warriors who are going in, fully armored to take hits; Riven is a swordsman who relies on skill, and I think of Shyvana similarly. The exposed midriff and partial exposure of her leg armor actually bring to mind stereotypically Indian or Arabian styles, which makes her just look more exotic to me than anything, which I think works really well with her being a half-dragon.

I think this is bleeding into a separate issue though. Inaccuracies, whether they're for *** appeal or just for coolness, are not automatically seriously perverted design choices; Kayle might have an impossible waist, but I don't see how that makes her an indecent, fanservice champion, which is the topic of discussion here. There's a different between an aesthetic choice and fanservice, and I think one of the core rules Riot puts into the design of any champion is that they look good to the players, regardless of how they're supposed to look (Kha'Zix looks good... as a bad*** assassin mantis).
