Does Seraphs Embrace automatically activate if you fall below a certain % of hp?

Ill go to buy after I die sometimes and notice that my SE is on cd. Either I'm totally retarded and I use it without remembering, or it activates. And I know myself. I always ****ing forget activated items (this is because I'm a huge noob).
