I just suggested more mythical and mythological champions are needed, I didn't mean to focus on Tolkien nature. Just more "MAGIC", less "FUTURE"...

Tradition!

Then you sir, have a very poor choice of words, and only made it seem as if you were angry that Riot should stray anywhere else from its current path of futuristic champions.

Maybe that's how you want to interpret it. Looking back, you were very quick to start calling foul at the entirety of GD when people disagreed with your original statement, so I want to think that you were already a bit teed off to begin with. Instead of assuming everyone who disagrees with you is secretly harboring some pro-future agenda, try giving us the benefit of the doubt.

I see what the OP was saying, and yes it was a bad comparison.

But he's right in one thing... there is a LOT of ground to cover in mythical critters and unique-feeling champions could arrise from it.

Imagine playing a Cerebus-champion who spoke in 3 simultaneous voices at once before spitting fire at you or rushing in for the kill.

Imagine playing a Griffon-rider and swooping down on people with a lance as the griffon gives that awesome eagle-screech.

Maybe a champ could be a unicorn. Not a sissy peaceful one, but a huge, brown stallion who played like a tanky war-charger... rushing into the fray and impaling people.

We do have some cool fantasy champs so far, but you can't tell me that that Cerberus idea wouldn't be awesome to see. It'd certainly be more interesting to look at than more humans trudging around with... I dunno... fire boots. It's less about avoiding tech and more about making champs who look very distinct. unique and interesting.

Thanks. I REALLY like the Cerebus idea too, but I hold out little hope of getting red attention, let alone seeing it made.

Heimerdinger and Tristana are old champions, so there is precedence for more technological champions in the game.

The typical mythical world (dwarves/elves/etc) and the whole setting, although wasn't original from JRR, was popularized by LOTR and perpetuated by everything else. LoL isn't exempt.

Fun fact: it's JRR's birthday
