any tips for smiting

i am a good jungler as far as map control and stuff i usually do very good at getting my teammates ahead but when i am smiting baron I am usually only like 50/50 if the other jungler is there. does anyone have any tips or tricks for smiting properly

Look at your upper left corner at the target display. Know what level you are and how much damage exactly you can do with smite. If Lee Sin, just kick the enemy Jungler away right before and take it.
