One thing that can help you leaps and bounds is to watch as many tournies as you can stand---watch them not only for entertainment (if you enjoy them, that is), but watch what the players actually do. Sadly, JoinDota's channel got closed (with no warning for no apparent reason explicitly stated yet) by YouTube, so the vastttt bulk of tournies aren't there yet and must be watched on Own3D or Twitch.
Also, if you're looking for streams BlitzDotA, Merlini, Purge,Koreya, and the EG clan are all above average players worth watching and learning from.
DotA2 wiki, playdota.com, and dotastrategy are all worth checking out---just keep in mind that sometimes info on stats/etc can be a bit dated (by a patch or two unless a patch has been out for months) so you might run into a few "uh, that's not right" situations here and there.
