1. care less about computers
2. care more about your education and future

I say this because your arguing points are that you do good for yourself in school and keep your room clean. You should want to do these things naturally, it should not be a decision you make or one that you are praised for. You're getting all A's? That's fantastic, with this you will earn a scholarship and have no problem getting into a nice college, from there you can land a nice job and spend as much money on a computer as you would like.

I would also warn you though that $1000 is obsessive and your mom is right for second guessing this.

It's funny, because this letter ended up being something I would have written to 16 year old me given the chance.

Video Games are never going away, fix your priorities, save the money yourself and purchase it if you want it. Your mother is probably trying to teach you some responsibility anyway.

The mentality here is: "This PC I like. I must have it now."
And that's absolute nonsense. If you can buy it in 6 months with your own money, save up and buy it then. Yes yes, technology will change blah blah, buy something more current then, prices won't change much.

She's your mother. She's right in not wanting to buy you a $1000 piece of gear that would potentially mess up your future by way of you not studying or distracting you in other ways.

Dude, I'm an audio engineer and my entire home audio rig for mixing and mastering costs a little over that... the PC was half that price :/

I worked there for 6 months, earned enough money for my xbox, some games and leftover cash while i found a new job.

You say you earn $25/week ok, that's a start, alternatively a classic trick to try is say to your mother you will cover half the costs, save up your money to $500, then show your mum how you've been responsible and saved $500, she will be much more likely to help you fulfill your dream and contribute the other 500 since you showed SOME amount of initiative instead of just bitching and saying give me my 1k computer nao.
