Finally buying a new computer.
I've been getting less then 10 FPS for over a year now, so you can imagine how eager I am to trade-up.

Being an amateur, an acquaintance pointed me to the site of a local store with a system configurator.
After a tinkering and browsing on-and-off over the last few months (for both parts and advice), I realized having the input of people who play LoL would be helpful. I'm sure there are plenty of enthusiasts on here.

So, this is what I ended up with.

Processor: Intel Core™ i5-3570K
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
Memory: Corsair Vengeance
Hard Drive: Samsung 840 Series
Video Card: Asus HD7750 Top Radeon

I've met my goal of keeping the component sum under $1000, but it'd always be nice to cut the price down further so I can put more of the budget to other accessories.

What I'm most concerned with are things like compatibility, whether or not anything will blow up, the basic stuff. :/

Edit:

Also haven't quite decided on power supplies yet. Currently looking at * Power Supply: High Current Gamer 620W and Professional Series HX650 (Somewhere between 600 to 700W)
I know 600 is more then enough, going on my brother's advice to have a little extra for future upgrades.
--

In addition, does anyone have any recommendations on a good case?
I'm smart enough to realize how you place the parts together is important, but next-to-nothing about the execution. I just think a window would be nice. :P

I'm currently looking at the Z9 Plus Case w/ Fan Controller.
Maybe something in white...

Much gratitude in advance!

You're spending more on your hard drive than your video card?

I'd shave money off your mobo/cpu/hd (mostly your mobo/hd) and upgrade your video card a tier or two. Personally I'm not wild about SSDs in general, but if you do insist, I'd go with a smaller SSD plus an ordinary 7200 RPM 500-1000 GB hard drive for storage.

Looks good to me. I'd go with the white... so clean.

This is exactly the kind of thing I wouldn't notice. Thanks.

SSD seems fine to me, what do you dislike about it and what would you prefer?

Ok, so a few concerns with that system...

One, I hope to god that system is WAY under $1000.

Second, paring that video card with that processor is complete waste of money, and you are going to bottleneck hard, as that processor is far more capable than anything that video card is going to do.

Third, your SSD choice, a bit of a no-no. Samsung makes a great drive, the 830 is awesome, and the 840 Pro is fantastic. The Samsung 840, not the 840 Pro, is something I would absolutely pass on. It is using TLC NAND, and without going super geek on you, suffice to say that it has rather short life expectancy and lower performance than SLC or MLC.

Fourth, are you even going to be overclocking? If not there is no point in getting a K series processor, you can save a nice bit of change by getting a non-K series processor and board to match.

Based off what you have said and the parts list, it doesn't look like you are going to be overclocking. It also doesn't look like the store you have been at has any proper help, as anyone building a system with even the slightest bit of real knowledge on hardware wouldn't have recommended that video card and cpu combination. It would be like someone selling you a Ferrari, but giving you a Pinto motor in it....

It would suck!

So, knowing your budget already the next big question is; are you going to overclock?

I would recommend going on to Newegg.com and looking at some of their deals. I'm sure you'll be able to find better deals and have a bigger selection. For GPU go with the 7850, 7870, or 79xx. Either of those will do you just fine.

Thanks for the in-depth response. I'll look into the 830, I leaned away from the 840 Pro because of the price gap.

I'll also be getting a Seagate 1TB on Kodoku's advice.

I'm not looking to overclock. I'll be going with the non-K series.
I had picked the K-series because it was the same price as the non-K, but this was only because of a recent sale. Silly me.

Hm, I guess I was being too stingy. So, would E Nomine be right in going for a 7850 or higher instead?

Going on that advice, I've set my sights on the HIS Radeon HD 7850 2GB.

Yeah, probably should have included that. Will amend that right now.

Currently looking at High Current Gamer 620W and Professional Series HX650

I'm not looking for anything in particular here, just a good model in the 600~700w range.

Where do you live? I am looking at the pricing on the website you are linking to and they are a bit high, is there a reason you aren't using Amazon or Newegg? Newegg currently has the 3570K for $205, and the 3350P for $180.

Honestly, MemoryExpresses pricing sucks....at least from what we normally pay in the USA.

On the matter of overclocking, you don't need the board you selected then. I would look for something with the B75 chipset, it provides all the features and quality you need for less. The closest thing Memory Express has is...

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX39068

and it is about $30 more than Newegg.

EDIT: Ah, you appear to be in Canada, I would absolutely be using Newegg.ca and getting your parts through there.

EDIT 2: To give you an idea on Newegg pricing...

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813157326 - Motherboard for half the cost, and it will absolutely accomplish everything you are wanting. You don't need to spend the money on the Z77 if you aren't overclocking.

A great set of memory:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820220705

I have a bit of a bias against Corsair memory, I recently ordered a set of Corsair and it was faulty, sent it back, ordered another set, it too was faulty. I am pretty unforgiving when I get two faulty products back to back from a manufacturer. The great thing about the memory I linked is that Patriot hand tests every module of this particular line, before it leaves them.

Here is their Core i5 options on processors....

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...CE&PageSize=20

Take your pick, pretty much every one of them is cheaper than MemoryExpress.

The list goes on and on....going with Newegg you could probably shave a $100 or more off your build.

Postal Twinkie, although the 840 uses TLC over MLC, I would still say it's life should be equal to a mechanical drive, assuming it's 128gb or higher. That was a big factor in why I got the pro series tho not gonna lie.
