this is my way of thinking for it:

The support label is slapped on him because no matter what way you play him he has a tone of uttility to him that helps the team outside of fights, i.e. his map awareness from his shrooms. Means his team has alot more leg room around the map than his opponents, and thats always handy

Also keep in mind that even if people are clearing your shrooms, that still let's you know exactly where they are regardless of if they aren't taking damage from them. So even of they are pink warding or buy oracles, still make sure to lay them at key points whenever available.

To some extent, yes. But let's be honest here. Teemo's poison has stolen more kills than I can count. He is labeled as a support, but he is by no means the kind of support that is supposed to stay around with the ADC. That's just stupid, it keeps the ADC from getting enough kills to carry, hence the carry part of the name. Supports are normally very good tops. Shen, Teemo, Malphite, Cho'Gath, Kayle, and even Warwick I guess. I've even topped Blitz to troll sometimes. I normally wreck face when I do that.

We are talking about the support tag here. Currently theres absolutly NOTHING that makes him have a support tag.

teemo is an all around sort of champ who does many things. It is not the actual role of a support champ to not take kills and gold. This just happens to be a very efficient strategy.

Support: Champions whose skills are meant to directly aid the rest of the team. They can either babysit a champion to make laning easier for them by providing healing, buffing allies, applying debuffs to the enemy team, or a combination of the above. The most common ability for a support champion is providing an ally with a shield of some kind. One of the main goals of a support is to let their lane partner farm minions for gold, as supports can buy key gold+ items to get gold for themselves, as well as controlling the map with wards, warding all key areas of the map. These champions usually rely on their skills more than their auto-attack.

Teemo fits this for the most part, he wards and applies two different debuffs.

Also all of those tops you mentioned except for blitz arent known to do as well as support bot.

Toxic Shot - Each of Teemo's attacks will poison the target, pissing them off greatly because he's gonna do large amounts of magic damage without actually having to stick around at all which easily zones some champs.

Noxious Trap - teemo places bull**** wards that piss peeople off further making laning very annoying for them. Can also be used for warding areas which you should be doing on top of warding with shrooms
