You're just saying its okay for the game to openly gimp people into playing 1 way.
Well yeah. If you play a style and only that style, that will not get you past a tie breaker in a round robin, you're just gimping yourself.
Most teams that play a snowbally early game strat are also able to adapt when things don't go there way, and find a way to win it late game too. World Elite is a great example.
If you can only play late game and never push an advantage you lack versatility, adaptability and therefore overall strength. You are the inferior team.
The teams knew the rules going in.
And let's be realistic. Neither Curse nor MYM had any chance of winning the title or even making the final. It made no difference that they didn't advance. M5 proved they were worthy of it.
A number of people have said M5 didn't deserve to get past the group stage, and therefore didn't deserve to win the title. But let's not forget about the only title CLG EU has ever won: Dreamhack. They failed to qualify online. They were taken out by Na'vi and Teamless who also didn't qualify. They were done. Until their fans donated and financed a trip for a live offline qualifier against solo queue-esque teams and they won a place. Na'Vi and Teamless unfortunately didn't have as many charitable fans. You could argue CLG EU didn't deserve to even be at the event, just the same, much less the champions. Unlike M5, they didn't back it up with more titles.
