Biggest tip?

Play draft pick.

Strategy A: The enemy has picked Nunu. Your team picks Caitlyn.
Strategy B: The enemy has picked Caitlyn. Your team picks Nunu.

I second Sivir. She is a great counter pick to Cait if you get good with her shield and burst combo.

The Sivir Soraka combo has potential for the reasons listed and gives you insane pushing power once you get an empty lane.

Iceball is pretty easy to shield against, but it does take a skilled Janna to react during the sound of Cait's Q to shield in time. I know I had to practice my shield mechanics to be able to do it right and I still fail if I'm not focused enough.

But you're right, Janna is great for stopping Nunu and her shield is great for dealing with poke. You can also do things like shield self, then block a Caitlyn ult when the target wouldn't survive even with a shield.
