I've seen that Riot members are fairly active on this forum; I'd be curious to know their perspective on this.

Another perspective I'd be interested to see would be that of the female LoL gamer. I know I showed some of the female LoL art to a female friend of mine and she burst out laughing at how rediculous their portrayal of females is.

I thought I allowed for 3 points of view ie 1) agrees with me 2) is neutral 3) disagrees. What poll options would you have prefered to see?
Had it read "Do you think female LoL champions are oversexualized 1. yes 2. no 3. Haven't noticed 4. I don't really care 5. yes I only play females"

Maybe then the poll would seem more balanced.

Personally I dont really see it... Certainly there is a heavy rate of large chested women but to be honest if you compare LOL with say any anime out there it's pretty good. Also there is only so much you can do with a fully covered form, armor and clothes can be worn by anyone but things like muscle tone can truly bring a characters personality to life. Is she a unstoppable force or nimble and evasive. LOL has in a reality a large mix of outfits ranging fully armored knights (see kayle/leona), women in protective but more veryday clothing (Riven or Vi) to the "scantilly clad" (Miss Fortune and Janna). Its all a design choice to fit around there generally attitude when playing to me, less armored usually are back line or evasive fighters while heavy armors quite often end up charging head on.

On the topic of personality I will use the examples of say miss fortune or ahri, obviously somewhat sexualized but that's a part of their tactics. To lure in the unsuspecting males then absolutely devastate them. Riven and Vi dress and act like badasses who dont care and are generally played like them with a standard of you can't stop me if you try.

Female gamer here. My two cents on the "portrayal as *** objects" thing? I'm more offended that your first impression was that they were *** objects.

Personally, I only play female champions, and I only play female champions BECAUSE they are pretty. Literally my only complaint against the portrayal of any female champ in the game is that Sona has large breasts, which I don't think fits with her more sweet and innocent personality, but that's it. The rest of them are fine.

Not even going to touch the poll. The female champs are NOT just *** objects and you have some serious problems if you think they are.

This being a fantasy world makes no difference whatsoever; If anything it'd be MORE relaxed on such a matter. There are more important things to worry about. ( As in, anything and everything else. )
You seem to also think simply because men like seeing female characters dressed sexy that men don't respect them, that they see them as nothing more than objects, which is a flat out unfair thing to believe. Simply because I like looking at scantily dressed women does not mean I don't respect them.

You're not asking for females to be treated as human; You're asking for them to be treated as something to be ashamed of, to be covered up and hidden and locked away. Sexuality in varying degrees is a huge part of many societies, and this isn't going to change. Get over it.
That about sums it up. Plus, the replace Riven's sword with a pole argument was kind of weird. Like projecting-your-own-sexual-anxieties weird. :X Also, have you tried fighting incredibly baggy/heavy and fully-covering clothing before? It's freaking difficult.

It used to bother me, but I've sort of adopted this "live and let live" attitude about it.

Here's the thing, I'm a father of a gamer daughter. She's only 7 right now, so she's got a ways to go before she gets to the "dangerous wilds" of the internet (or she may grow out of gaming for all I know). I want her to understand and know that she isn't locked into predetermined rolls anymore based on her gender. She can continue to be a fearless tomboy or change into a delicate flower that adores things furry and cute. Or she can find her own combination or unique outlook. It doesn't matter, it's her choice.

And this is what I like about LoL... the female characters fill all these personalities. Sure, you have the traditional "eye candy" like Janna or Siver... but you also have the Vi's and Classic Riven that say "I may be a girl, but I'm going to beat your ass". I personally find Leona, with her fully functional full plate of armor to be absolutely glorious.

This is the beauty of this game... we have a skin for people of all sensibilities. If you don't like a skin, you have every option to change it. Just because you and your sensibilities say otherwise, doesn't mean the rest of us have to follow those said sensibilities.

Just my 2 cents, but it seems like using the extra skins as any part of this argument is really faulty.

I mean, those are optional. Now, I could see someone having objections to Evelynn or Janna's basic splash art, even though I personally think they just represent one end of a full spectrum that Riot does well to present. However, if you never, ever want to see your character dressed like a Playboy bunny because you feel like it is disrespectful and wrong, then there's an easy fix: DON'T BUY THE SKIN. Just because it exists, does not give you incentive or right to get mad about it, unless it is forced on you.

"...tries very hard to objectify women through it's portrayal of females in game."

- All of the females in this game have rich personalities and back stories, and their choice of armor/clothing is based upon these two things.
- All of the females in this game have diverse physical forms.
- None of the females in this game are portrayed as "Bimbos" or "****s".
- This game is full of examples of females who are strong and driven, champions who command respect from their very presence, who bravely charge into the Fields of Justice to fight for what they believe in and sometimes just to kick ass.
- The Riot art team is not composed of a gang of perverted men drawing boobs all day, it is full of talented individuals both male and female who strive to create a fantastic gaming experience through their art.

Is Riot TRYING to objectify women through its portrayal of females in its game? Absolutely not.

Im being trolled arent I...

First they will complain that the women are portrayed as sexual objects, later they will complain that swords and guns incite violence, people can never be satisfied by anything or just need to shift the blame on something else.

Truly a wonderful display of how small minded we are nowdays.

Not sorry for any english mistake*

I disagree with you.

Let's start from A and ill tell you how its not sexist:

Ahri: Considering the inspiration from the Kumiho, her outfit is quite natural for luring in prey as an attractive woman.

Akali: As a ninja she wears only the most nessecary clothing and besides she never talks sturly and in most of her skins she is her skin is mostly obscured.

Anivia: You said it yourself, she is a wise eldery bird.

Annie: looks like a normal fantasy kid.

Ashe: Her clothing is very usefull due to its lightness for an Archer.

Caitlyn: Agreed, although most of her skins show her in military uniforms or with full clothing.

Cassiopeia: Is a reference to a Medusa/Gorgon, so the style is hardly attackable.

Diana: She wears full armor and has a rather strong voice and quotes that display her goals and conflicts.

Elise: As a Spider that lures people into her lair as a human i don't see your problem with her design fitting to her backstory.

Evelynn: I find her Art hardly attractive because her choice of clothing, if you can even call it like that reminds me of Voldo from Soul Calibur.

Fiora: Just dressed how its best as a duelist, light clothing that doesn't get in the way.

Irelia: Nearly full armored and and has totaly no alluring features, in all her skins her skin is completley covered.

Janna: Her design simply fits with her Wind- Mage theme, or would you like to see a floating clunk of Armor as a wind mage?

Karma: I don't think i need to explain anything here.

Katarina: An Assasin that wears light clothing, which fits her playstlye as well and on a sidenote: She mostly uses Violent quotes.

Kayle: Does not need explaination

Leblanc: While she shows a lot of skin, she looks kinda unsexy overall, but mysterious.

Leona: Heavy armor.

Lulu: Just looks like a mage

Lux: I belive her Art just makes her look beatifull instead of a ** object like you called it.

Miss Fortune: She is the only character on which i agree with you, but that's what makes her personality unique.

Morgana: While she shows a lot of skin, she was not made to look attractive overall. And a somehow more "sinful" style of dressing is fitting with the Fallen Angel theme imo.

Nami: She is a mermaid and even Ariel the little Mermaid shows more skin then her.

Nidalee: Amazon theme, that's what they look like.

Orianna: Machine.

Poppy: She is fully armored.

Riven: Clothed like a nomad, sounds angry, wise and desperate when talking.

Sejuani: I agree with you, i believe she should wear more armor, but since she rides on a boar she seems rather unattractive.

Shyvanna: She looks rather dangerous than attractive.

Sivir: I don't know why you would view her as a ** object, because to me she is rather displayed as a Warrior.

Sona: Have you ever seen old festivities or operas? Thats a very usual style there and since she is a musician: It simply fits her.

Soraka: She is a half Horse.

Syndra: Simply looks majestic and strong, again, would you like to see a floating clunk of metal?

Tristana: Fully Armored.

Vayne: She looks quite unattractive o.O

Vi: I don't know how you can think gigantic disproportioned robotic arms are looking sexy.
