Math is a concept which means its possible to show that .9 repeating equals 1 although we know for a fact that two different numbers are in fact separate from each other. It has just been accepted that .9 repeating is equal to 1 because of the proofs.

This is a very highly debated concept, even among mathematicians today. It can be proven for both sides that it is true. This is basically which ever one you think it is true. You are never going to use this concept in the real world, so it doesn't matter.

I myself think it equals both, or at least can equal both based on the need. But yea, there will always be people on both sides.

.9999(repeating)=1 do to limitations of our comprehension and of mathematics itself.

Simply put using the formula
0.9999.... = X
10 X = 9.999....
(however at this point it is technically 9.999...0, but there is no mathematical way to express an infinite number that is no longer infinite so based on limitations it breaks down to not being possible to have a zero at the end of an infinite string and thus allowing the proof to continue as such)
10X - X = 9
9X = 9
9X / 9 = 1
So, X = 1

That's rounding, it has absolutely nothing to do with the 0.999 = 1 subject.

Again, you're looking at it from a math perspective. (I have a feeling GD's logic wont be able to follow what I'm about to say... but here goes.)

Lets say we looked at it from an Artistic stand point.

If someone Painted a 1 on a canvas

And someone Painted a .9999999 on a canvas

And this was prehistoric times and no one understood math... would the painting be the same?

Of course it wouldn't. It would be different. One would show a 1, one would show a .99999

Open your minds and think outside the box.

How are there this many people who don't understand basic math?
