Q removes slows and gives a movespeed buff - he's not kitable

Passive gives him free health regen + not mana dependant = unlimited sustain

AoE spinning move is great for farming and does awesome damage - he can get plenty of money

He's tanky

he can take someone down to 30% hp from full with just a few hits - great damage

WTF is the trade off to Garen?!?! shouldn't there be some draw back?

No hard CC and no ranged harass.

The silence might as well be considered CC for how long it last. Who needs ranged harrass when you can just run up and kill the people in a few hits. Even if you don't who cares? you'll have better sustain then them anyway.

Kiting my friend, learn to use and abuse it. Yes, he has a built in cleanse, that is why you need someone who has an in kit speed boost and ranged harass to beat him in lane normally, like Nidalee, Jayce, or Teemo, keep poking him down and he only starts getting sustain if you don't attack him...for ten seconds.

hes too predictable so if you see a garen running with his q to you, you just go back till the q go on cooldown, i also recommend you pushing the lane so he use his spin with minions, and then you can
damage him alot without receiving anything

He used to be weak in team fights and that's how they compensated for his laning phase.

But now, he is just a walking wall that deals the damage of an ADC if you get near him.

He moves team fights better than any champ I've ever seen.

Which is still melee-range and doesn't stop people from running away or juking his spin. Which doesn't work when people walk in the ****ing opposite direction when not already next to him. Which is useless if any champion with 500+ range is hitting him.

Try slowing him after he uses his Q. He is kitable, you just have to use your CC to escape rather than initiate.

His passive is very easy to knock off with a single ranged attack. That is his only built-in sustain. Continually poke him if you're ranged; if you're melee, just quickly initiate and disengage the moment he uses his Q.

If he uses his spin to farm he lacks damage. Make him regret it.

He is weak to ranged champions with some CC or good escape. I did quite well against him with Kennen (he couldn't farm), although killing him was another matter altogether. Still, you don't have to get kills to win: just zone him and stay safe from ganks.

no ranged, relies purely on being in melee to pretty much do anything.
No hard cc, can't peel for team.
He is kitable, its not like a slow after he uses Q is hard for a competent team.
Armour counters most of his damage.
Ulti has a very low range, not to mention it along with most of his other skills have a high cd making sustained fights harder to fight for Garen as opposed to say a Riven.
Can't do much other than tunnel vision a carry in teamfights, and he has to do it with walking speed.
Ever tried to catch an Ezreal that knows you are coming? Garen has a hard time because he has to walk through his team and Ezreal's own slows and E.
Garen has to rely on ambushes almost all the time to get his targets.
Only good in laning phase too, and ganking Garen is easier than ganking a Lee or a Renekton.
