As we all know, veigar is Widely use as an ap nuke for a single target. being able to take down a single target ( or at least make them unable to join in the teamfight) in ~1.5 seconds (with full combo)

However, after he uses his full combo, he is utmost useless, a random Q here and there but his damage DRAMATICALLY falls off...

Now, before i actually go into the guide let me tell some basic stats of veigar:

[CENTER] Reasons why Veigar is a good ADC:

~340 move speed, compared to ezreal who has a 330 move speed, and ashe, who has a 325 move speed is a great stat. mobility and easy escapability

~Stun: maxing this baby causes 2.5 second stun, and with a long range boarder and a pretty fast cd ( i believe ~ 13 seconds) can create a easy catch for escaping prey and getaway.

~Get ap from farming. With veigar, you get ap from farming with your Q. this helps alot too with the last hitting if under tower. Even with his Q, it resets his attack and automatically makes him attack again.

Many a times, veigars usually plays passive and farm but NO! BAD! BAD! Veigars Baleful strike (Q) does 80 damage at lvl 1 and jumps to 125 at lvl 2. many of times other adc's wont have magic resist ( if any, just the + m resist from the def tree) and cant handle that constant harrass. It has a 5 second cd and is easy to target them ( same range as your attack range)

Veigar gets complemented by taric, soraka, sona, and lulu.

Soraka: for the sustain that veigars lack early, plus the mana to constant farm your Q and harrass

Taric: for sustain, armor and follow up/initiate on the veigar stun

Sona: super poke, veigar Q and sona power chord means gg to the other adc

Leona: veigar hates being up close and personal

Alistar: bit of an iffy on this one, just stun him before he headbutts and he will be stunned before you can knocked up

Blitz: once again, hate being up close and personal

If you get harrased out of lane, play defensive. shell up and just farm under tower and get lifesteal. ask your jungler to gank and buy pinks. veigar is very dependent early game.

if your enemy builds armor, its fine. you do magic damage with your skills. if they build m resist, auto attack, cause you are building ad.


[CENTER] Mid/Late Game:

By this time, you should be famed up a bit and have your muramana and your blood thirster. this is the time you roam, ganking lanes when you can with your SUPER AWESOME MEGA LONG RANGE STUN that many enemy underestimate. if you miss the stun, and they are in the middle, they cant go anywhere for 3 seconds so thats when you can get them too. dont do your ulti just yet, auto attack them a few times first.once they start to run away, use your ulti.still does a burst ton of damage.


Never go anywhere alone. you might be a power house, but you get caught by someone then gg for you.

Late game, you have gotten your farm, gotten your ad items and are on a killing spree, what do you do? you win! veigar is one of the best champs to scale into late game, even if you havent built ap, you will probably have 200+ ap from your passive, and deal a lot of damage after your full combo.

Anyone can build AD - doesn't mean a champion's kit is suited for it.

True, but sion was originally built for ad. not untill later did they realize that he was good as an ap too.

My concern is his horrible range: 425. Compare to a support, Nami, who is range 550. You're just asking to be kited and zoned out of cs. You don't use him as an ADC. You use him mid like you would AP Veigar. You build AD items on him but you also farm up your Q as much as you can.

Muramana - An excellent AD item for him mainly because when it's finished, it can power your spells as well. It gives you plenty of mana so you can Q farm with ease. It gives a nice amount of AD. Note this stacks on auto attacks so it should maximize fairly quickly.

Malady is unusually good for him. This is due to the fact that you can build up AP with your Q and make your auto attacks more powerful. It also gives magic shred which is nice for a magician. For every ten Q farms, your autoattacks deal an additional damage. Not a ton of scaling but it helps.

Nashor's Tooth is a good item for him. The 20% CDR allows you to Q farm more often, gives you more attack speed, and the AP powers your spells and gives you bonus damage via Malady.

Trinity Force gives you everything you need in one package. Some health, some mana (which gives some AD with muramana), some AD, some AP (turns into damage with malady), attack speed, a slow and burst.

Rod of Ages can be a tanky item for you if you take it early as well as sustain. 650 mana is 13 AD with muramana. 80 AP is 8 magical damage from Malady. It's 350 health short of a Warmog's but it makes running out of mana a non issue and powers your spells. Think of it like a Warmog's: it's designed to keep you alive but unlike Warmog's, you still do gain damage from it.

Mercury's Treads gives you MR against your AD mid and Tenacity. Ninja Tabi if you get a bruiser.

The key, as usual for Veigar, is to Q farm as much as possible. Being able to scale your AP while building AD is nice so your spells are never useless. The bonus malady damage does add up and having the CDR to Q farm more often makes a difference. Building Tear and Rod gives you an opening like AP Veigar. Then you build Nashor's Tooth which makes your opponent's realize you're going hybrid but you still have a lot of AP. Then you build Malady and get magical damage for your AP. Then you finish Muramana for your AD scaling. Trinity Force completes the late game package giving you burst and a slow after you deliver your stun combo.

Just realize that you're still a magician. Your AD damage won't be anywhere near a true ADC would be but while your combos won't do as much damage, you have more sustained damage to finish fights. The more you Q farm, the better you will be both as a magician and as an auto-attacker. The longer the game goes, the more powerful you will be so if you have to, stall the game with your team until you can break the stalemate.

The difference there is Scion has nice AP ratios. Veigar's range alone puts him in a bad spot - there are reasons why folks usually won't run even a lich bane on Veigar even though he has the best potential AP in the game.

Veigar was my main for a long while. His range alone puts him precariously close anytime he hits that AA. Being able to kill a player in a single combo (if not just one ult) will generally be more valuable than hitting someone hard and having to trade it out.

His nukes make him a mid/late game beast. Going AD on him and playing a hybrid can work in some games, but it really depends on team comp. I really don't see it worthwhile giving up that late game prowess, especially as powerful as his w gets alone.

Well, this actually doesn't sound half bad, but his range is awful, and he's really squishy. I like the idea of taking advantage of his passive AP with Soraka for mana sustain. Maxing Q first would be some nice harass.

The range is a major issue though.

I think that the problem with your build stems from your usage of AP Veigar.

If he is useless without his ult ready, you are playing him wrong. His W is AOE and has one of the highest AP ratios of a non-ult, and his E is one of the best stuns in the game.

Just trying building a defensive item or two so that you aren't getting blown up instantly, and you'll be dominating teamfights lategame, even without your ult or DFG.

Try, for example, getting a shurelya's instead of DFG. The two parts are great for early farm and laning, and then you'll be there through the end of every teamfight. Considering how much damage he gets just from Q farm, it is totally worth it... plus its another free flash basically

If I was really going to go for autoattack Veigar, I would take advantage of his Q...
