This is for anyone who can answer my question, but I'd really appreciate a red's response.

I started playing near the end of the Journal of Justice and since then, I haven't seen much of anything Lore-related outside of the champion bio tweaks. I remember (over a year ago) when the JoJ was discontinued, it was done with the promise that everyone who loves a good story would still be getting something outside of the champ bios.

However, as far as I can tell, there is nothing in place to continue the ongoing Lore of Valoran outside of the bios. This silence is heart breaking.

I imagine there are groups at/related to Riot that are working on books to publish in the coming years; it's the only thing I can come up with that would take this long while needing to be kept somewhat confidential (and it would make Riot a ton of money).

Or maybe they just fired the previous team and hired a few new people to make champ bios that may-or-may-not really matter to the ongoing story of our lovely champions.

I really enjoy the world you have created with League of Legends and I would like to know and experience more of it outside of just playing the video game. And while I realize there are some confidentiality issues and a desire to keep the community from freaking out if you promise something and don't deliver for a couple of years, I'd still like to know what this group does beyond Champion Bios.

Everyone is pretty convinced that the team/s responsible for lore are gone.

Alright. The present "uses" of the lore team to my understanding is working on putting out more in-game lore presentations including some secret projects. They've made minor progress through things like champ interactions and the TT map interactions. That's... about it to the players view. World building has come to a relative halt as has character development.

Now, in my personal opinion (The above was my attempt to be as unbiased as possible.) the lore team is absolutely useless and has basically demolished most everything that was good about the lore. Most communication has been limited, we are given even less of a window into the world of valoran, Riot has held AMAs on reddit without warning the lore people, the things that made characters themselves are occasionally changed without regard to that being why players like them (*Cough* Karthus/Original Jayce lore *Cough*) and the various other complaints. In exchange we've received a few more interactions between champ and well... that's about it.

That's unfortunate.

I guess the only thing I can possibly think of is if the entire Lore team has transitioned from creating in-game Lore into creating books, comics, etc (as I mentioned above). That being said, a book probably takes about 2 years from start to finish - we should have heard something by now.

I guess Reds don't really respond to this forum anymore, either. Closest I can find is 2011

Phreak? Morello? Penguin? Bueller? Anyone.....?

No need. They never answer controversial statements or criticism just to stay safe, lest they make a comment that would put them in a bad spot.

I must note, -constructive- criticism is actually answered if it pertains to important design flaws of the game itself, as you could see with Design/Balance teams answering threads in General Discussion time to time. However, there can be no constructive criticism in this specific forum, because opinions on Lore are ultimately biased and subjective. Lore is, in essence, writing, and writing, by extension, is an art. Everyone has different opinions on art, but none of them are ultimately right so much that he is able to criticize works.

Sure, I can write an essay in several dozen pages on what exactly is wrong with the Lore, but it's just that, my opinion. In fact, others already did - there is a sufficient amount of "Lore is gone gg" threads in various places, among which Eserine's threads stand out the most, although I daresay that the person is heavily radical in his statements.

So, knowing that the chance of being heard simply by posting on Lore forums is close to zero, I prefer not to spit blazing fury at Riot and have good faith in what they are doing. Sure, there's been no Lore for over a year, but in my opinion it's better to be positive and hope for it to come back, rather than demand drastic measures and accuse a company that you are not an owner of (and which gives you free stuff, by the way).

That doesn't mean I'm happy with the Lore situation - I very much am not - but hey, the world doesn't end with League of Legends lore. I can read other good things while the Creative thing is working on their projects - so why don't people do the same intead of being all angry?..

Honestly, I was working really hard to make my post positive. Like you, I trust Riot to be working on it, to be developing it, and to have plans for it. I am just genuinely curious and was hoping that I'd hear at least, "oh yes, we have people working on Lore projects, but we can't talk about them and probably won't for a long time".
