Hello all who care to read this,

One of my friends got his account hacked yesterday. Never gave away his password or fell for phishing. His password and email was immediately changed.

I thought to myself, how can one change the email and password of an account?

I tried it myself and all you need is the account's email in order to change the email. Of course in order to change the password you need to know the previous password, but that can easily be emailed if the hacker changes the email.

With that said, there needs to be some type of verification process in order to change your email and/or password. Maybe a verification email sent to the original email before changing the email address or password. Even a "secret question" would be sufficient.

With all of the players who play LoL, I am sure receiving support tickets from players getting hacked is an everyday occurrence. Why not find ways to potentially eliminate the number of hacked accounts?

my user name used to be RisingOrion before I got hacked and found out this hacker used my RP to change my name to JayKay... also he left 3 ranked games leaving me with 28 points... Anyways, here was the support ticket so far:

I checked on Lolking.net for the summoner's name RisingOrion to check what this hacker did to my account and found out he deleted all my masteries and changed a mastery page's name: Noob.

Please help me get back my account please.

Hello riot, TY for letting me change the password but is my e-mail under **********@gmail.com or something else? Also, the hacker changed my ingame name using RP that my friend bought for me is it possible for you guys to give me a free summoner name change and as well refund 1300 RP due to the fact that this hacker used "my" RP please.

I think yer Lucky to get the account back... i had to go thru soo much just to get my WoW account back a couple of years ago... and the hacker cleaned out everything i had.... WoW just gave me the account back nothing with it...
