First, the bad stuff.

  • I don't like the eyes. I think they look creepy, soulless, a little doll-like, and way too blend-y with all the blue she's wearing. I liked her old golden eyes better.
  • I don't like her smile. I think it's creepy and too big for her face.
  • I don't like her face. It looks too small.
  • I don't like her boobs. She's turned so you can't see her cleavage, but her breasts still look gigantic. It's very disconcerting to see that much breast with no cleavage. I wish that either: A) her breasts were smaller, B) her neckline was higher, or C) an appropriate amount of cleavage was showing, because right now it looks very weird to me.
  • I don't like her hair. It looks like it's attacking her.
  • I don't like the background. Where the hell is she supposed to be? It doesn't look like anything I can understand, and it's so washed out you can barely see it anyway.
  • I don't like the folds of her gown panels; they don't seem to be flowing in the same wind as each other, let alone the same wind as the rest of her.
  • And finally, I don't like her sleeves. They look hard and angular, like they froze that way.

Here's the one thing I will say. This new splash art does one thing right, and it's a really big one. The FEEL is perfect. The old Sona splash was very static. She was standing still. Nothing felt like it was moving. It was very antithetical to her playstyle. Sona runs around constantly: she doesn't need to stop to cast, her spells are constantly going off, her hair and dress are always flowing, there's always music coming from her... she's very active. This splash art has a great feeling of motion and action. She's moving, the wind is blowing her, she's playing; it feels so right in that respect. It's the opposite of the current Morgana splash art. Current Morgana looks right but feels wrong, to me.

So, Riot, I applaud your improvement in the Sona splash art, in terms of it feeling much more like Sona. However, please take note that your splash arts are becoming more and more physically impossible--weird wind, lack of outfit softness, impossible poses, etc--and that this is bothering some people, i.e. me. Can we please see some more attention being paid to the physics in these splash arts to make them look less... weird?

This right here is the problem with men in the world today.

It's a problem that I'm worried about the physical impossibility of Sona's chest? I'm not saying I want to see cleavage, nor that I want her breasts to be gigantic. I'm saying that the way they have drawn her, her cleavage is minimal--yet her neckline is still low and her breasts are still gigantic. I don't understand how this is physically possible. Raise the neckline on her dress, problem solved. Shrink her bust size, fantastic. Add more cleavage as seems appropriate for the outfit, great. I'm simply saying that I see a problem with the way she's drawn currently, much like I dislike Morgana's broken-back pose and Sejuani's winter-inappropriate clothing choices.

On a personal note, if you're trying to intimate that I'm complaining about Sona's breasts in this picture because I want them to be gigantic and exposed, then you're barking up the wrong tree, as any of my contributions to various "Who do you think is the hottest champion" and "We need more sexy male champs/skins" threads can attest to.

Sorry supposed I jumped the gun a bit, but her breast really aren't that large, it is just the angle in the previous splash art made them seem so.

I'm not talking about her previous splash at all. It is my opinion that in the NEW splash art for her, her breasts look very large and her neckline looks very low, yet she does not have the cleavage one would expect such a combination to produce. It might be the angle of this new art, as it is angled upwards from beneath her. It might be the fact that the large ribbons trailing between her waist and her shoulders are hiding the lines of her rib cage and making her chest--not her breasts, her entire chest--look larger than it actually is. It might be that her head looks quite small due to the angle and all of her hair, and in comparison it makes her breasts look overly large. The actual size of Sona's breasts is not my concern here. It's like Morgana's current splash art; her back is not actually broken, yet the way she is drawn, it looks to me like it is. Therefore, whenever I look at Morgana's current splash art, it looks weird and offputting to me.

This is not a sexual thing nor an attractiveness thing. I am looking at the splash art and trying to describe the reasons why it looks, in my opinion, artistically flawed. May I ask what your opinion on the new splash art is, Bioness - and any others reading this thread? I'm curious to know.

I don't like it too much. Her face looks too doll like, her eyes are the wrong color (unless they've actually cannocally cahanged it to blue), she looks like she's about to break her back from floating/standing, and overall, the piece is just far too busy. Her hair and dress aren't even blowing in the same direction.

My opinion is the same as your positive thought, Sona looks so much more alive and "powerful" in the new splash art.

As for the wild look of it, I think it is suppose to show that she has this energy coming from her, which is why it looks a bit "busy". It might be because we are so use to the older and more still Sona that this art is a bit off putting at first.

Just say you don't like any change.

I agree with you with everything but the breasts. She needed to not be a cleavage *****.

As that would be a lie--I love the Annie VU, was very pleased when they changed the Ez art to the Chinese, and started playing Soraka purely because of her new artwork--no, I don't believe I will say that.

I do not want her splash art to show more of her breasts. I do, however, want her body to make physical sense. If her breasts in this new splash art were smaller, I would have no problems with it. If her neckline was higher, I would have no problems with that either. I'm saying that the amount of cleavage shown, the lowness of her neckline, and the size of her breasts do not add up. If any one of these three factors were changed--more cleavage, higher neckline, or smaller breasts--then I wouldn't have this problem with it.

I'm glad you feel similarly about this. I definitely like the direction of this new splash art; as I've said multiple times by now, I just have stylistic problems with it. Do you have any opinions on the art style itself, or does it look fine to you?
