Getting stuck as Valor is a tricky one; did it accidentally once, managed to do it on purpose in a second game with a friend. Effectively you need to hit recall so that the countdown to returning to Quinn disappears as the recall bar appears.
It's a very short time frame to manage it; two of us tried half a dozen things. The last sliver of the Valor countdown is roughly when you need to hit recall - might take a few attempts
