Garen is still being banned, but these days i would much rather have Mordekaiser banned.

Is that a legit ban in a mid to high elo game?

Not the most orthodox of bans, but not as silly as something like Eve/Teemo or whatever.

Pretty awful ban if you're bans 1/4, though.

Garen is no longer ban worthy (and some would argue pick worthy) in high elo where players know how to handle him.

Is mordekaiser better than Garen? hard to say.

Morde is not worth a ban.

mord is a great pub stomper and can easly carry 4 okish players(for there elo) to vic. with a good build and know-how you can 5v1 easy... you wont come out alive but your teamates will and thats the tanks job

Garen trumps Mordekaiser. A smart Morde curbstomps his lane enemies until they start getting their CC abilities. He has no escape mechanisms or CC, so he dies if he is caught in a gank. Garen (at least) has his overwhelming silence, spinny-doom-remove-all-slows escape, and the uber Super Sky Sword at his disposal.

I laugh manically if we have first pick and their last ban is Mordekaiser (instead of say, Amumu, who we then pick).

Morde isn't bad and I love to play him occasionally, but he gets vastly overrated (and QQed about) as of late.

I agree, people need to stop banning tanks. If a tank can kill you, it doesn't mean hes OP, it just means you suck.

Or that they're meant to be a offtank (a strong damage character who is best built as tank for poor damage scaling reasons), less utility more damage.
