This isn't a thread to whine about the 0 CS meta please. I'm just curious if Riot anticipated the support meta with the initial release of champs based on DOTA or if it evolved naturally.

no they didn't... Back in S1, Supports were all over the place and most of the time were allowed farm and items.

I think the support item changes that happened helped them out tremendously.

I don't feel starved when I rock it with sona.

Not sure. The gp items were always there already. Then again there were much much stronger items for supports back then like innervating locket
