Magic resist = resist to AP? I'm confused.

It all depends on the ability. For example, Sivir's Boomerang Blade deals physical damage (I think), but it scales off of both AP and AD. Generally speaking, though, champions who build more AD deal physical damage, while champions who build more AP deal magic damage. That's a guideline, not a rule, though.

I wasn't trolling, not in the least.
Nowhere in the game that I've seen does it say Magic damage = Abilities. I was just looking for clarification on that matter.

Which I have now, unless otherwise stated, abilities = magic damage. Like Zileans bombs. But not like a steroid boost that fiora has.

That's not accurate.

Ryze does almost entirely magic damage, yet his ap ratio is atrocious and should be focusing on building mana and cdr.

Akali is a hybrid champ that does both physical and magic damage, same as jax.

AP = ability power

ap doesn't necessarily translate to magic damage, and ad doesn't always translate to physical damage as far as abilities go - you need to look up their detailed descriptions, and the wiki is great for that.
