The way to play is just play with whatever cards you have until you want to go to a tournament. Then build your DREAM deck and buy it just for the tourney. It really won't set you back that much, to buy the deck just for the tourney. Then you can either re-sell the cards after the tourney, or just trade them for the specific cards you want next time.
As long as you're not trying to own everything in existence, and only buy cards you specifically need for tournies, it's rally not THAT bad (though definitely more expensive than computer gaming if you don't count the cost of a nice computer).

I have been a player since around 6th edition but I think I am quitting now. The power creep is insane and the metagame is in a state it has never been in. Decks are staying around for too long. 5CC and faeries have been alive a long time and I think wizards should stop supporting them. I will come back when those are gone.

They'll IP ban him, judging solely on his posting I don't think he'll be intelligent enough to get past an IP ban.
