Runes: Armor pen, MR, Armor, Health

Masteries: 21/0/9 (make sure to get points in awareness and the one that increases buff durations)

I usually start out by getting Q and doing golems. Then to banshees, then wolves, then blue, then back to golems. I then go and get red and start ganking. Get ghost, it's invaluable as a jungler. That's really it, he's a pretty straight forward jungler (and frankly, a pretty straight forward hero). Get items based on ur team comp. If you already have a dedicated tank, focus on things like ghostblade, ie, etc. If you're team is a bit squishier (you should never be the tankiest hero), get a frozen mallet first and a defensive item to counter the other team.

If you are having trouble, you can do the following modifications to the above:

1) Take 11 offense, 11 defense, 8 utility
3 crit, 1 imp smite, 4 in +attack speed, 2 Offense mastery (+4 dmg vs creeps), and 1 armor pen.
3 armor, 3 magic resist, 2 str of spirit (hp regen) or dodge, 2 def mastery and 1 hardness (-3 total dmg done by creeps)
3 preserverence, 1 goodhands, 4 in +5% XP.

This will hurt your overall performance but does provide a nice boost to jungling.


2) Take Heal instead of Ghost. Ghost is better for your first gank and helps you escape from a counter-jungle gank. Heal ensures you can finish your route without going too low vs Golem and that you have enough health to gank at level 4 after your 1st route.
It is not ideal, but jungling does little good if you end your route with 1/3 health and have to B instead of gank.


3) Make sure to use Q (spear poke) IMMEDIATELY after a normal attack to reset the attack counter. Its like getting a free attack which is worth 60 bonus damage effectively.


4) Attack Speed is better than armor pen for jungling. Definitely take AS red runes and even some yellow runes if youd like.
Most jungle mobs have very low armor, so 20 points of pierce is overkill and doesnt help you vs them, whereas +AS helps vs ALL mobs. Plus it ensures you heal faster from your passive.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but I've been using Stonewall008's build, and it works wonders:

Flat AD marks, believe it or not it's faster on Xin to have flat AD over AS, but if you have AS marks they'll work too, Flat Armor Seals, any Glyphs, I prefer MR/level cause it helps lategame, but some take Mp/5/level, that's fine too, and finally ArPen Quints.

Skill Q/W/Q, then R>E>W>Q for ganking/midgame. Early W levels let you Q more often, give more healing, and do more than barely leveling your E in the jungle, but E is stronger than W in the ganking/midgame, so level it up then. Q only gets slightly more damage, and it's CD doesn't reduce with levels, so it's easily the last to level up.

Smite/Ghost for spells, and this build lets you choose where to start. You can either start at golems for a slower and safer pace, or go the stronger/faster pace of starting at the wolf camp, killing only the Giant wolf, then moving to the Ancient Golem, killing it, then wiping the rest of the jungle out save Red. Blue pill, kill the 3 newly respawned camps, then Red, then gank to your heart's content.

Oh, and since I forgot to mention it, like almost all junglers, starting items are Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potions.
