Thornmail is actually considered the worst armor item in the game.

personally i believe it is one of the better armor choices in specific circumstances. Such as a fed physical dps carry stomping face left right and center, a health item or 2 and you should be pretty okay as long as you don't wander off on your own, also remember to focus him in team fights if he is a risk to leave until clean up.

Thornmail depends on the person having low armor pen and no MR or lifesteal, and ignoring the items on the other team.

Omen is just a good item in any circumstance.

Stunned Yi = dead Yi.

If he's trying to solo backdoor your base then place wards along probable paths he'll take to reach it and gank his ass, then push 5v4 until he respawns. Rinse, repeat.

the easiest way to not feed him to begin with and disrupt his farming to delay his effectiveness late game.
