against melee carries what would be better to get?

thornmail or the armor that slows their atck speed?

Thornmail is better if there is 1 very squishy carry, someone like Yi and in the case where that melee carry is attacking you. Aka if you are not getting focused its not gonna help.

Frozen heart is better if there are a lot of physical damage, and it is also better in team fights since the attack speed slow is AoE.

If there is a lot of physical dps on the other team then it is certainly is reasonable to get both.

Also it is important to think about the other stats on the items, since Frozen heart costs almost 1k more if you do not need the CDR it is probably not worth it. Since thornmail is cheaper and only has armor it is more of a straight tanking item.

Well it seems to me like Warden's mail is best on a carry or mage who is looking for a good physical defensive item. The slow allows the wearer to either get away from an enemy who is chasing them, or fight better 1v1.

Thornmail works best when you have other defensive items, such as Warmogs or Frozen Heart. Either of these items will increase the overall damage that your enemy will do to themselves before you die.

try frozen heart + warden mail combo on tank, when u inciate they dps basivly cant atack 60% as reduction and 35% ms , insane . It gives your dps upper hand. Hmm thornmail is good for mage chars with lots of hp rylai, rod ..., And they penetrate magic resist so 25% is really 25%.
