you know how when snowballs roll down hills, they get bigger? same concept, an item that gets more powerful with more momentum

In LoL, it refers to the 3 stacking items: mejai's, the sword (>__> lol forgot the name), and leviathan.

AP/AS Cho'gath. Do not get any item besides boots that do not have either stat.

Example build:
Ninja Tabi
Nashor's
Wit's End
Rabadon's
DFG
Malady

Unorthodox character builds are actually my preferred method of play. Been around since beta so I need to keep things interesting.

AS/Hybrid Janna, I play this regularly and I'm known for doing it well. I knock over towers.
AP Cho'gath is beastly, properly timing a rupture + DFG + silence + ult knocks out anyone.
AP Kog'maw is a great nuker as well.
Spellvamp Vlad is my preferred build.
Movespeed Eve! PD/LIchbane/Boots of Mobility, dive in, dive out.
Triple Snowball Kassadin, I've gotten this to 20 stacks once and it was hilarious.
FiddlesTank, works surprisingly well.Rylai's/Spirit Visage/BV/Sunfire/Thornmail/Merc Treads/drain drain drain!
TanKennen, great initiator and has an ability which increases his armor and MR, too
Hybrid/AS/CD reduction Sona. Spam abilities, power chord all day, every day Nashor & Younsoo for CD then go from there
MageWick, with AP and CD his Q hits like a truck.

most of these a common builsd. or well known builds with the acception of ww, which that itself is a horrible build because you wont be able to jungle with it.

ap rammus is pretty funny, the rollnig ball **** hits like a truck and a taunt with ult is HIGHLY annoying.
DFG poppy is insane because of the bonus damage dfg does while your ult is on, although i wouldnt call this unorthodox.

MageWick would probably work in 3v3.

Also I've gotten Rylai's a couple times on Rammus and it's actually pretty fun. Ult is also a big AoE slow, and the extra damage makes towers melt.

Tank kennen is more than viable (imo) with his aoe stun.
hybrid sion is ideal in theory
magewick poke contributes more to teamfights than normal junglewick (imo)
Tanky kassadin is fun to play
AP amumu is viable-ish.
Not sure if Warmog's Yi is unorthodox, but I've seen it many times. Along with AP yi.
Morde mid is fairly common
Ap Sona is the **** with passive and lich's bane.
dps (offtank/antidps) Nasus is fun
AD ryze (manamune + PD)
Kayle is uncommon enough that standard lategame carry Kayle is unothrodox I think
