Also, make sure you installed the correct video driver. You state you tried both - follow the posts instructions and make sure you install only the one for your operating system.

SAME thing happened to me! i was playing a ranked game yesterday... then all of a sudden the game got horrible lag then froze. so i restarted my computer. when i tried to open back league of legends it says could not load direct 3d . Ive been trying everything ppl have been saying. Closing all media players. updating windows and nvidia drivers, reinstalling the game. but nothing is working.

you and me both have the same intel (R) g33/31 Express chipset family 32 bit vista. For me to fix the direct3d error I have to uninstall league of legends then delete all the folders containing league of legends then RESTART computer and re download it from the website. I usually crash with shader moduel 2.0 error after the character select screen if i try to reopen league of legends. Once you install league be aware that once you close it its a 50/50 chance you will get that direct 3d error when double clicking the league icon or crash at the character select screen with a shader modeul error making you re download league all over again lol trust me XD.
